This is a form of animation that was made popular and named Claymation TM by Will Vinton Studios.
It has been around longer than the creation of the name "Claymation". It is a form of stop motion animation where each frame of video or film is shot 1 at a time.The motion is given to the clay by bending and shaping it, shooting a
frame, then reshaping the clay, shooting it...
It is a slow process but has it's rewards when all the frames are put
together and played back.In the earlier years of this artform, most of the animation was done with clay only. But today, a variety of mediums are combined to give the animation a different look.
A few examples of Clay animation are - Gumby & Pokey television show, The California Raisins commercials and the PJ's television show. |
